Dedication of the Lateran Basilica (November 9, 2025)
Ezek 47.1-2,8-9,12;1 Cor 3.9b-11, 16-17; John 2.13-22
Consider the vision of Ezekiel where living waters are flowing from the altar of the temple and enter the stagnant sea, the stagnant sea waters are profoundly changed and become fresh, living waters. So too, when our lives are rooted in Christ and nourished from the Altar of Sacrifice our own lives become open to profound transformation.
Are we aware of how intrinsically intertwined our Catholic Faith is with what Pope St. John Paul II called “the Gospel of Life”? Do we educate ourselves to stand up against abortion and euthanasia in our increasingly hostile culture?
Too often Catholics do not have their consciences formed by the fundamental teachings regarding the sacredness of human life from conception to a natural death. Today as we honour the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica we recommit ourselves to having our consciences formed by the Church’s moral teaching.

For our continual conversion and the conversion of medical professionals and pro-abortion, pro-euthanasia advocates to the Gospel of Life, we pray to the Lord …
