Divine Mercy Sunday (April 24, 2022)
Acts 5.12-16; Rev 1.9-11, 12-13, 17-19; Jn 20:19-31
On this 2nd Sunday of Easter, which St. John Paul II designated Divine Mercy Sunday, the Church proclaims to all, the peace and mercy merited by the wounds of Christ.
For after greeting his disciples with the words “Peace be with you,” our Divine Saviour “showed them His hands and His side,” thereby confirming Isaiah’s prophecy, “by his stripes, we are healed.”
Our Lord does not want us to carry our own sins, but to confess them to his duly appointed shepherds, through whom He will forgive: “Whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven them.”
Except the sin of impenitence, let us never forget that there is no sin Jesus cannot forgive, for as the psalmist says, “His mercy endures forever.”
