24th Sunday in Ordinary Time (September 15, 2019)
Ex 32.7-11, 13-14; 1 Tm 1.12-17; Lk 15.1-32
Just as the Israelites have left the path God had prescribed them to sacrifice to a molten metal calf, could it not be said with some justice that we, the modern people, committed idolatry by worshiping the god named "Choice"?
After all, we literally sacrifice our children on the altar of choice, and as for this so-called right to "choose,"we have the head as hard as the Israelites in foolishly confusing true freedom with libertines.
However, "Christ Jesus came into the world to save the fishermen." And for those who have had an abortion, there is no reason to despair when listening to the tender words of Our Lord: "I tell you ... there will be joy in the sky for a single fisherman who converts, more than for ninety-nine righteous who do not need conversion."
Pro-Life Intercession
That we may work for better solutions than capital punishment, and that those who do evil can find repentance and healing, let us pray to the Lord…
