Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul (June 29, 2025)
Acts 12.1-11; 2 Tim 4.6-8, 17-18; Matt 16.13-19
Saints Peter and Paul each suffered persecution at the hands of political authorities through imprisonment for preaching the Gospel of the Risen Jesus. The Lord’s power and message was not hindered by the circumstances that Saint Peter and Saint Paul faced. In a similar way, as Catholics entrusted the message of the Gospel of Life, we must trust that the Lord will use our circumstances to spread His message regardless of any political restrictions such as bubble zones.
Abortion, euthanasia, and assisted suicide are widely accepted by many as a compassionate response to an individual’s difficult circumstance or suffering. We must seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance so that we can witness to the love of Christ, the value of every human life in every circumstance or trial, and the truth that the gift of life is God-given and no one has the right destroy human life.
When pro-life advocacy becomes fraught with road blocks we need to continue with prayer and trust in the Lord’s ability to work in every circumstance to advance the Gospel of Life.
