17th Sunday in Ordinary Time (July 24, 2022)
Gen 18.20-32; Col 2.12-14; Lk 11.1-13
Pope Francis called on the faithful to “say ‘Yes’ to the God who is love, life and freedom, and who never disappoints”.
Indeed, this is what St. Paul writes about in the Second Reading, “And even when you were dead in transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He brought you to life along with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions.”
Let us not be led by ideologies and ways of thinking that do not respect life, which are often promoted by governments, mass media, and others who think that the rejection of Christ and the Gospel of Life will somehow lead to freedom and complete human fulfilment.
Instead let us foster in ourselves a contemplative posture, developing a habit of prayer, which we see in the life of Jesus Christ. Our actions to support the Gospel of Life should flow out of this rich prayer life.
