29th Sunday in Ordinary Time (October 16, 2022)
Exod 17.8-13; 2 Tim 3.14-4.2; Lk 18.1-8
Jesus urges us to seek justice with unfailing perseverance. Pope Francis encourages us also: “Be Christians with apostolic zeal. And if we make others uncomfortable, blessed be the Lord” (Daily Meditation, 16 May 2013).
In the battle for life, each of us has our own place. Some, like Joshua, may be called to fight in the battlefield, engaging the evils of abortion and euthanasia head on. Others, like Moses, may be called to raise their hands in prayerful support of those in the fight. Still others, like Aaron and Hur, are called to offer support to those praying. We each have a unique part, but we must play our part faithfully.
We must also remember that we are not only fighting for a cause, but for people. Let us never give up on anyone – not those contemplating abortion nor those who already have children and are struggling. Let us strive to support them in every way possible.
Pro-Life Intercession
That God’s people may persevere in their prayers and works to eliminate abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, and every form of injustice against human life, we pray to the Lord…
