The Nativity of the Lord (December 25, 2021)
Readings depend on if Mass occurs at night, dawn, or day
On a night more than 2000 years ago, something extraordinary happened. And no one noticed. A child was born in a cave and laid not in a warm bed but in the feeding box of the animals housed in that cave.
At the birth of this one child the salvation of the entire human race had finally begun, and the truly omnipotent King of Kings and Lord of Lords had come among us to save us from sin and death.
It is Christ and Christ alone who reveals to us the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity and thus teaches us the full truth about God. But more than that, it is Christ and Christ alone who fully reveals Man to Man himself and makes clear his supreme calling and destiny.
For this reason, we cannot understand ourselves or make sense of our own lives until and unless we are faithful disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, and obedient students of His Gospel. After all, it is Christ’s mission that shows us the dignity we have from conception to natural death.
