27th Sunday in Ordinary Time (October 4, 2020)

Is 5.1-7; Phil 4.6-9; Mt 21.33-43

  • St. Augustine says, “God created us without us: but He did not will to save us without us.” Even today we see that God has done everything to make us fruitful, but we must also do our part by cooperating with His grace. We have to remain faithful to His call.

  • Why is it that many of the anti-life measures reflected in our civil laws, such as contraception, abortion, IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), embryonic stem cell research, and euthanasia, have been promoted and passed by Catholics? We must remember that our role in society, whatever it is, has been given to us by God, and that we must give God an account of what we have done and not done.

  • The tending of the vineyard of the kingdom takes place now. Let us resolve to be faithful, to live what we profess to believe, and to embrace the Son. In doing so, we will inherit the kingdom.
